Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to all tutoring booked with AA Tutoring (Ascend Academic), ABN 47 207 450 821 ("we", "us", "our"). By booking a lesson, you (the parent, guardian or adult student making the booking) agree to these terms, together with our Cancellation Policy, Refund Policy and Privacy Policy.

Our services

We provide one-to-one and small group tutoring, exam and assessment preparation, HSC intensive sessions and holiday workshops for students in Years 7–12. Lessons are delivered online over Zoom by default. Face-to-face lessons can be arranged with your tutor, and pricing for these reflects the location.

Bookings

• Requests made through our website, by email or by phone are not confirmed until we confirm them in writing and payment has been received.
• Tutor availability is not guaranteed until your booking is confirmed. If your preferred tutor is unavailable, we will suggest an alternative tutor or time.
• Recurring weekly bookings hold the same time each week until you pause or cancel them, as set out in our Cancellation Policy.

Fees and payment

• Fees depend on the tutor, subject and type of session. We send our current price list on request, and the price is confirmed before you book.
• Payment is required in advance to secure a booking. Payment details are sent by email once your lesson is confirmed.
• Packages (5 lessons, 10 lessons or a term) are paid upfront. Paid lessons in a package do not expire.
• We may change our prices from time to time. Any lessons you have already paid for will be honoured at the price you paid.

Cancellations and refunds

Lessons can be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge with at least 12 hours' notice. Unused paid lessons are held as credit. Full details are in our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy.

Conduct and safety

• We expect students to arrive on time, come prepared and treat their tutor with respect. Tutors will do the same.
• For online lessons, students should join from a suitable space with a working camera and microphone, and keep cameras on unless the tutor agrees otherwise.
• For face-to-face lessons at home, a parent, guardian or other responsible adult must be at home for the whole lesson.
• Lessons are not recorded unless a parent or guardian has agreed to it beforehand.
• We may stop providing tutoring if a student repeatedly misses lessons without notice or behaves inappropriately. Any unused paid lessons would then be refunded.

Results

Our tutors work hard to help every student improve, but results depend on many things outside our control, including the student's own effort, attendance and school. We do not guarantee any particular mark, band, ATAR or ranking.

Resources and materials

Notes, worksheets, practice papers and other materials we provide, including through our Free Resources list, are for the student's personal study only. They may not be copied, shared publicly, sold or used for other tutoring without our written permission.

Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that they will be provided with due care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.

Liability

Apart from the rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, and to the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from our services, or for disruptions caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as internet outages, illness or emergencies. In those cases we will reschedule or credit the affected lesson.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be on this page with the date it was last updated. If we make a significant change, we will let families with current bookings know by email.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
